On the 5th of May, 2007 the third accordion festival “TUTTI” took place in Mažeikiai.

The festival has already become a traditional event in Mažeikiai, because it has been held since 2001. There were a lot of musical schools` students from Plungė, Palanga, Klaipėda, Mažeikiai, Viekšniai, Ž.Kalvarija, Kuršėnai, Venta, and N.Akmenė. An accordion quintet “Modus” was a new participant in the festival.

TUTTI traditionally took place in the hall of Mažeikiai Cultural centre.

The programme of TUTTI   consisted of popular accordion music performed by soloists, ensembles and orchestras. The organizer of the festival was Vaida Mikalauskienė, the director of the musical school “Domisolė“,and the teachers of the school.

The students from Plungė Mykolas Oginskis art school performed pieces of  music spectacularly. They were students of Povilas Budginas, Ligita Veniulienė, Laima Jundulienė, Bronė Šarvienė, Violeta Norvilienė. Other wonderful performers were  students from Palanga Stasys Vainiūnas musical school (teachers  Nijolė Daukšienė and Jelena Kravcova); Mažeikiai musical school (teachers  Algimantas Znotinas, Dainora and Sigitas Petrikiai), Kuršėnai art school (teachers Raimonda Bakavičienė and Irma Dešriuvienė); N.Akmenė musical school( teachers Algimantas Milius); Venta musical school (teachers Rima Šmigelskienė and Vaida Mikalauskienė);  Viekšniai Vincas Deniušis art school (teacher Rimantas Mikalauskas); Ž.Kalvarija musical school( teacher Rima Šmigelskienė); „Domisolė“ accordion school (teachers Vaida  Mikalauskienė and Rimantas Mikalauskas).

It has been a second time, when the accordion quintet „Akvarelė“ (University of Klaipėda, Faculty of Art) leaded by a docent  Vladislova Kaknavičiūtė   participated in TUTTI. Together with „Akvarelė“ a nice performance was made by prof. Vytautas Tetenskas.

It was also really nice to hear  profesionally performed pieces of music by various ensembles and duets. These were an ensemble of Vaida Mikalauskienė and Rima Šmigelskienė called “Duettino“, and the grand piano duet of Vida Vaškienė and Jurgita Kungienė „Fanola“.

Traditionally, an accordion duet „Together“ (Vaida and Rimas Mikalauskai) participated in the festival. They played „Basso ostinato“ by V.Vlasovas.
In the programme of the festival a folk music ensemble „Ventukai“ (art director Raimondas Dievinas) was also included.

The climax of the festival was spectacular, because the listeners had a chance to hear J.Doga „Waltz“. There were 150 musicians on stage with a wonderful „Domisolė“guitar ensemble accompaniment and the conductor Vaida Mikalauskienė. An arrangement for orchestra was done by Vaida and Rimas Mikalauskai.

In the second part of the festival the accordion quintet „Modus“ appeared, leaving the listeners amazed by their wonderful music.

It was really nice that the festival was observed not only by the townspeople, but by the leaders of the musical schools as well.

TUTTI ended on a very warm, optimistic note for further( future) meetings with its listeners.

Every two years the accordion festival “TUTTI” takes place in Mazeikiai. It’s a nice present to all the townspeople and the guests of Mazeikiai.

A lot of accordionists from various cities of Lithuania and its districts participate in it (from musical schools and conservatoires of Mazeikiai, Joniskis, N.Akmene, Akmene, Venta, Gargzdai, Kretinga, Palanga, Klaipeda, Siauliai, Kaunas, and Vilnius).

tutti1.gifThe organizer of the festival Vaida Mikalauskiene invites a wide circle of fans, enthusiasts, and professionals of accordion music in which even the youngest children participate (only playing the accordion for a couple of months) as well as soloists, ensembles and the orchestras. The main goal of the festival is to popularize the music of accordion, to reveal the technical potential of this instrument, simply to show that various genres of music (from classics to jazz) can be played by this instrument.

Every performer try to play the most beautiful, convivial piece and the climax of the festival is the play performed by all the participants (about 200 accordionists play it).

The professional players are also invited to the festival. The listeners had already heard the sincere playing of Liudmila Slekonyte (the laureate of international competition, Kaunas), “Musette Ensemble” (the laureate of international competition, St. Petersburg), the duet “Together”( the laureate of international competition, Mazeikiai), the ensemble “Jazz Sticks” (Kaunas).

tutti2.gifThe festival is widely described in the press:

Inga:”200 accordions play and there are no thought of noise of the sound. You feel the subtle power of the music, you are stunned by the professionalism of the performers and the teachers and you are made to believe that music educates the intelligence of the child, teaches the inner discipline, a sense of duty, the hard working and kindness…” (The “Unity”, 2003)

“The show is really splendid and impressive. I liked the little ones most of all, because the weight of their instruments was almost the same compared to adults’ accordions...” (“Budas Zemaiciu,” 2001)

“The music awakens and helps to sacrifice all senses of the child. This is an alternative and the choice for a nowadays life... (The “Concord”2003).
